Mayor Tory declares Emergency Shelter and Homelessness Service Worker Appreciation Week

Evangel Hall MissionNews

This week was declared by Mayor Tory to be Emergency Shelter and Homelessness Service Worker Appreciation Week – and I want to express, on behalf of the EHM Board of Directors, just how much we appreciate the staff at EHM and all they do.

Each and every team member is responsible for keeping some of the city’s best housing and homelessness services running every day, and we can only do this with a complement of dedicated workers that have committed themselves to the service of these clients. They not only deliver a variety of services to participants and tenants, but do so in a caring and empathetic manner making a real and lasting impact on people’s lives.

Over the past several years we have experienced increased demand for our services, especially with the onset of COVID related issues. The stresses and strains on EHM workers in all departments have increased dramatically yet they have adapted and persevered in their efforts to support our community. Management, administrative staff and front-line workers have done an amazing job.

It is all of these workers that deserve to be honoured and recognized and we do so with great thankfulness and respect. We would be nowhere without them.
