Our Board of Directors set the strategic direction and priorities for EHM, oversees the budget, and raises the profile of EHM in our community.
Board Members
Brock Winterton
PresidentBrock’s career spanned 24 years at RBC as a research analyst and Managing Director followed by 14 years at the boutique Investment Bank, Clarus Securities as Managing Director and Head of Research.
Skills include a wide range of capital markets activities, including investment analysis, investment banking and M&A.
As a long-time member of the Rosedale Presbyterian congregation Brock has served as a board member for 17 years and was the Convenor of the Board for 13 years. He has been an active supporter of several of the inner-city missions in Toronto and has witnessed the needs of the Toronto population.
Brock is enthusiastic about his ability to help EHM in its mission to support its community and make a positive contribution to the life of Toronto.
Rev. Rebecca Jess
Vice PresidentRebecca serves as a minister at Armour Heights Presbyterian Church in North York. Having graduated from Knox College at the University of Toronto in 2018, and ordained
to the Presbyterian Church in Canada soon after, Rebecca is fairly new to
congregational ministry, but not new to life and work in the Presbyterian Church. Before entering seminary, Rebecca was one of the Co-Executive Directors of the Cairn Family of Camps in Baysville, ON—a set of summer camps owned and operated within the church. Working with children, youth, and young adults is a passion of hers, and continues to be one of main areas of her focus in ministry.
Rebecca stays connected to the life and work of Cairn Camps as a member of its Alumni Committee and as a summer chaplain. She is also a founding member of Re:animate: a group within the PCC whose vision is to nurture courageous leadership,
inclusive communities, and creative ministry within the church.
Having volunteered many times over the years to make and serve meals at EHM, Rebecca has seen firsthand the impact that a hot meal, meaningful conversation, and spiritual nourishment can make in the lives of those who reside at and use the services of EHM. Rebecca is grateful to be part of the team of people who serve within the EHM
community.
FEITE KRAAY
TreasurerFeite is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and has over three decades experience in the Canadian IT industry in sales, management and executive positions. He is currently Alliance Director at KPMG Canada, where he oversees the firm’s business relationships with IBM and related technology vendors.
Feite lives in Toronto with his wife and two teenage children. He has been a member of Rosedale Presbyterian Church since 1997, has served on Session and is currently Convener of the Board of Managers. Through Rosedale Presbyterian Church, Feite has participated in local mission activities. He and his son have participated in serving the Out of the Cold dinners at EHM. An avid runner, Feite is also a Director of the Toronto Harriers, one of the city’s premier amateur performance running clubs. He can often be seen running through the city’s streets and extensive network of trails and ravines.
Feite is excited to lend his business expertise to the EHM board, assisting wherever his skills will be most beneficial to improving the lives of Toronto’s vulnerable population.
Mike McCreary
SecretaryMike is a practicing lawyer, with a practice that focusses on representing trade unions before the OLRB, boards of arbitration and all levels of courts in Ontario. He is also council to a number of multi-employer pension and benefit plans and has been a pension plan trustee. Mike is certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a specialist in Labour Law and is regularly on Lexperts list of recommended union side labour lawyers. Mike is a frequent speaker on labour topics at educational conferences in Canada and the United States and has written several articles and papers.
Mike was a member of the EHM Board of Directors for many years in the early 2000s, and actively involved in many aspects of the planning for the building of Adelaide St Property.
He is an active member and elder of Leaside Presbyterian Church.
Ande Clumpus
DirectorAnde is a Corporate Communications Manager and former Financial Analyst in the banking sector. He previously served as Treasurer on the Board of Pride Toronto, where he led the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic and brought it from a $600k deficit in 2019 to a $1.3M surplus in 2022.
Ande has been a volunteer with the Out of the Cold program at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church since 2015 and is known by guests for his expert coffee-making abilities.
He joins the Board of Evangel Hall excited to make a difference in a city with ever-growing needs, and is looking forward to showing what love for neighbours looks like in action.
Ian Foulds
DirectorIan has been involved with St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Toronto for more than a decade, actively volunteering with the Board of Managers and the Out of the Cold program. Ian is the Past President of Portland Place.
He has been an active member of the Toronto Film and TV production industry for four decades, working in lighting and rigging.
Ian is very engaged in Occupational Health and Safety, with many hours of study, including a Certification from Ryerson University, and is an active instructor in health and safety for his labour organization.
Ian has a daughter that lives and works in Montreal.
Peter Gordon
DirectorPeter retired from Brookfield Asset Management in 2020 after a long career with the firm. He has broad operating and management experience in the mining, forest products, industrial and general manufacturing sectors.
He served as a Director on the Board of Unity Health Toronto for nine years from 2015-2023. Unity Health is a 1,400-bed, three hospital network providing the full spectrum of medical care from pre-hospital, primary care to acute care to rehabilitation, palliative and long-term care.
Peter has been a supporter of EHM for many years. He is a member and trustee of Leaside Presbyterian Church.
Barbara Hepburn
DirectorBarbara and her husband John have been supporters and interested in the work of EHM for many years. Both were very involved in the dental clinic when it was first established. For some time Barbara has been concerned about the lack of affordable rent to income housing in Toronto believing that everyone should have access to a safe living space, so she is particularly excited about The Hall’s future plans to establish more affordable housing for those in need in Toronto.
Barbara is a lifelong Presbyterian. She has been very involved at Glenview Presbyterian Church, her home congregation since she was a child, sitting on many committees, serving as an elder and then Clerk of Session for 7 years. Barbara was also the Convener Glenview’s Refugee Committee which raised money to give support to a Syrian Refugee family.
Before her retirement she was Director of Development at The Centre for Christian Studies for 4 years, Director of Development at Knox College for 12 years then did some consulting work with Crieff Hills for 3 years. She has had many years of Board experience having been President of the Branksome Hall Alumnae Association, a girl’s private school here in Toronto, as well as being on Branksome’s Board of Governors and a member of their Foundation.
She looks forward to contributing to the work of the Board in its mission of delivering programs that address homelessness and poverty in Toronto.
Jane Martin
DirectorJane has been a lawyer for over 30 years practicing in the areas of insolvency, real estate and estates. She is a partner of Page, Martin LLP, where she has worked with a wide spectrum of people with diverse requirements.
Jane loves language and volunteers as a co- editor of a quarterly publication called the Catalyst about the life and events occurring at St. Andrew’s Church in downtown Toronto. Jane has also been active in programs to combat homelessness.
Jane served for over five years on the Board of Portland Place. She is enthusiastic about participating on the Board of EHM now that the two organizations have merged, and programs and resources developed at EHM are available to residents of Portland Place.
NATALIE PANESAR
DirectorNatalie is a director of human resources for Larco Hospitality and works at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre. Natalie holds a bachelor of business administration with a major in human resources from Brock University and is a certified human resources professional.
Natalie is no stranger to giving back to the community. She has served as a board member with the Hospitality Human Resource Professionals Association for seven years in the positions of VP of Communications and VP of Special Projects. She has also played an active role in volunteering and fundraising for the Children’s Miracle Network (which supports the SickKids Hospital) over the past 10 years.
Natalie is a first-generation immigrant from a developing country and she is inspired by the support and resources EHM offers those in need. Her aim is to contribute to EHM’s success through her human resources expertise.
Christina Van Sickle
DirectorI have progressive leadership experience, including my current role as a director at a provincial regulator, completion of the Certified Association Executive credential through the Canadian Society for Association Executives, fluency in the governance of non-profit associations and applying risk management strategies, and expertise in ethical decision-making.
I am a proud and passionate social worker and have worked for many years with individuals who are marginalized and underserved. I clearly remember how it felt when I was first drawn to this work, and I feel similarly about working with EHM toward its ambitious goals.
